Proper Name
Kingdom of Laladen
Ruler
King Erseld Tol. Tols have ruled Laladen since the First Cycle, and believe they are descended from the first Bringer.
The ruler of Laladen bears the following titles:
His/Her Magnificence, [Name] Tol, Ruler of Laladen, Duke of Tala, Master of the Nine Seas, and Servant of the Bringer.
Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Laladen is a gold, left-facing crescent moon pierced in the bottom third by a gold arrow heading diagonally bottom left to upper right on a field of turquoise. It is shown here for the royal house with a gold crown in upper left corner.
Government
Monarchy. Kingdom ruled by strong central government, with strong military leaders over each of the duchies and counties. Government's wealth is built on a virtual monopoly on the high seas, and it dedicates significant resources to maintaining that monopoly. However, Laladen only maintains a small army and relies on its strong navy and island separation for defense.
By contrast, its social policies are liberal. Though a nominally a New Church kingdom, the population enjoys significant religious freedoms. As a result, almost all belief systems operate temples in its major cities and towns.

Trade
Trade is what has made Laladen the great kingdom it has become. As a result of its early-acquired ability to build longboats, the kingdom was granted a monopoly over all sea borne trade by the emperor in the First Cycle. With the exception of the Shernan pirates, that monopoly has gone unchecked to this day. All of its trade occurs by sea. Its major trading partners are: Eslebi, Toroth, Nythoria, Dunihk and Ishyr.

Unusual Laws and customs
When meeting a stranger to your home/ship/town, you wait for them to speak first; they must declare their intent and be asked to be made a guest before you can respond (yes or no). When meeting someone you know, you throw your arms open wide, palms up and welcome them loudly, inviting them to come and be your guest. As a guest of a Laladian, you are shown every hospitality; you eat first and are granted any reasonable thing within the Laladian's power to grant. Do not overstay your welcome.
Key Holidays
Blessing of the Fleet on Vead's Feast (week beginning on 21 Ladin), Thoal's Feast (14 Aloso), Sattath's Feast (14 Pialo), Roe's Feast (25 Wexon).
Notes
If you ever pass through the Lion's Jaws (passing between the Sea of Rings and the Gulf of Adagarr) on a Laladian ship, remember to get your tattoo. That way, you will not be keelhauled on subsequent trips.
